Cochinoca is located 200km from Jujuy and 25km from Abra Pampa. We will take Route 9 and, at Abra Pampa, will take Route 71 to Cochinoca. In the pre-Columbian era, the famous Camino del Inca passed through Cochinoca. During August, the QUEMA DE PECADOS (walk on the embers) is celebrated as a tradition in honour of Juan Bautista. Eduarda Cruz will welcome us at her house with a delicious regional lunch. Juan Raon Cabezas, son of Eduarda and our guide, will show us the town, the cemetery, and the church. After having lunch, we will visit the PEÑAS DE ASCALTE – impressive volcanic formations with rocks that have shapes of animals. After the tour, we will return.
