Day 1
We will take Route 9 with destination LA QUIACA, where we will turn left and start our trip through the legendary Route 40 (here starts the Route 40 from North to South). As we get close to CIENEGUILLAS (where Route 40 turns and continues to the South), we will take Route 76 and enter CASIRA, the best pottery town of Jujuy, where we will visit the potter’s houses and see the process of the products they manufacture. Continuing through Route 76, we will arrive at SANTA CATALINA, where we will have lunch. During the afternoon, we will visit the incredible town EL ANGOSTO, which is divided from Bolivia only by the Río Grande de San Juan river. On our way there, we will stop by EL QUEÑOAL, a place full of trees named Queñoa (a millenial tree with red bark). Then, we will arrive at the FILO DEL ANGOSTO, the most incredible viewpoint of La Puna, where we will observe the tripartite border of Chile, Bolivia and Argentina. Once in the town (located 500mt from El Filo), we will walk along the streets, and visit a local school and greenhouse. Dinner and night at HOSTAL DON CLEMENTE.
Day 2
In the morning, we will take Route 65 to CUSI CUSI and then will take Route 40 again. As a stretch of Route 40 is cut, we will have to continue our trip through the legendary QUEBRADA DE OROS, which means to travel 13km through the river bed and then end up on Route 40 at SAN JUAN DE OROS. We will pass through PAICONE and then arrive at our final destination: CUSI CUSI. After having lunch, we will visit the LAGUNILLAS DE FARALLON, an obligatory stop to enter the Laguna de Vilama, where we will see one of its many lagoons. We will walk along the town, visit its ARTESANIAS TEXTILES and then return to CUSI CUSI. Night and dinner at RINCON DE CUSI guesthouse.
Day 3
During the morning, we will go trekking for about 90 minutes through the magnificent VALLE DE LA LUNA or VALLE DE MARTE with Candido, our local guide. We will descend through the valley and walk through it. Once we finish the tour, we will have lunch at the guest house. Then, we will take Route 40 with destination ABRA PAMPA and then Route 9 to Jujuy.
